Today we celebrate our early nation’s break from the tyranny of Great Britain (apologies to my mum, British grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and the lot)!
It’s a day for family, parades (shout out to my friend JK who is in charge of a spectacular parade in Larkspur/Corte Madera), bar-be-ques, fried Twinkies and roller coaster rides at local county fairs!
Don’t forget picnics at the beach, park, pancake breakfasts at local firehouses (shout out to the Marinwood Fire Department’s annual breakfast) and watching fireworks!
So in honor of our founding father’s and their pursuit of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, take a few minutes today and do something good for your body. Go on a hike, ride your bike, play Marco Polo with the kids, play tag on the lawn, hop into the ocean, play catch with your friend or just chase your kids up and down the lawn.
Declare YOUR independence from sitting on the sidelines watching. Let today be the first of your new active life.
Have a happy and safe day!
Now go run!
PS – if you are a history buff you have GOT TO check out “TURN” on AMC. It’s awesome!
