Tonight we close the books on 2012. Call it a wrap. Kiss it good-bye.
If 2012 was a particularly good year you are wishing it won’t end. If it was not one of your better years your may be thinking more along the lines of “…don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!” Whatever your feeling – you get to start over at midnight.
This year provided me with some great memories!
I ran a marathon (number 8 – woo hoo), reconnected with some old running friends, ran 30 days in a row to get myself out of my running funk, tried to do 30 days of yoga and almost succeeded! I took my running on the road and ran in Washington DC, Charlottesville, VA, the island of Maui, Lake Hogan and Pismo Beach!
Boot camp flourished in 2012! My class is full of hard-working, dedicated people and that, as a fitness instructor, is such a gift! The best class of the year had to be Halloween. They worked out with pumpkins and we had our 5 minute plank and 5 minute wall squat challenge and they crushed it! What I’ve been trying to convey to them this past year is that they are all much stronger than they think they are!
Spending time with my family was, as always, a bright spot of my year. I joke about my husband and complain about my kids but I love those knuckleheads to bits!!
The dark cloud of 2012 were the numerous hospitalizations of my mother . I was able to fly back a few times this year to spend time with her as she recuperated and that provided us a chance to spend some great time together. It was the silver lining, for sure.
Seeing her health decline also further galvanized my belief that taking care of oneself must be the priority. If you don’t have your health, you don’t have squat.
So at midnight we bid Adieu to 2012 and welcome in the New Year. It will be bright and shiny and full of promise!
I can’t wait.
Now go run!
