Yep, it’s a thing. Similar to Dry January, Sober October is a month-long challenge to help support folks who want to take a break from alcohol.
For some, it can be the first time they are doing a hard stop to take a look at their relationship with alcohol and a first step to long-term sobriety. For others, it’s simply a time to re-set and reign it in.
2020 has proven to be especially alcohol-fueled so if you are looking for a “reason” to take a break, you might want to hop in and give it a go.
If you’d like to find out more and see what kind of support or structured programs are out there for a month-long challenge, here are some resources.
FWIW, I’m on day 72 of my 94 day challenge. It’s not hard. It just takes some re-framing at times, especially on the weekends. If you have any questions, please let me know, I’ll be happy to share my experience.
Now go run!
