Lies You Tell Yourself

I’m not going to sugar-coat it today.  If you aren’t in shape, aren’t at your ideal weight and aren’t happy about it, you need to stop believing the stories you are telling yourself.  Let’s break it down.

I Don’t Have Time To Exercise or Prepare Healthy Meals.

First, let’s re-frame it.  It’s not that you don’t have time.  It’s that you are choosing to spend your time doing other things.

You can find 10-15 minutes every day  to exercise.  You can spend an hour prepping healthy foods on a Saturday or Sunday or heck even getting up an hour earlier on Monday to do it.   Once you get in the habit it gets more manageable.  And sure, you may not do it perfectly, but it’s a start.

And if you really don’t think you have time please send me your schedule for the last week, hour by hour, day by day.  I’ll find your time.

I Don’t Like (Vegetables or Exercise).

I don’t give a whip if you like to exercise.
I don’t give a whip if you hate the gym, hate Zumba, hate to walk and hate to sweat.
I don’t give a whip if you don’t like your veggies.

Stop complaining.  Lace up your sneakers and walk.  Blend your veggies into a tomato sauce or a soup.  fs

You aren’t doing yourself any favors by trying to figure out a way around it.

I Can’t (Fill In The Blank).

I can’t run. I can’t get up early.  I can’t afford a gym membership.  I can’t eat healthy foods because my family won’t eat it and it’s expensive.  Can’t, in case you weren’t sure, is a word that is found within a closed mindset.

In order to change and improve we must develop a growth mindset.  And that often requires that we become expert problem-solvers.   Sure, you might not be able to afford a gym membership now, but let’s see what other options there are.  The Internet is loaded with free shit that  you can check out, view, read and learn how to do.

You can also find amazing recipes that you can make for your family that are economical and delicious.  And for the veggie haters in your family, hide those veggies in other foods.  Unless you tell them, or grandly announce that they’re eating tofu meatballs, they will not know.

Change is challenging.  But change is necessary.

So buckle up, embrace that growth-mindset and get it done.
