Here’s a tip to make your workout more effective. Focus carefully on the muscles that you are working with each exercise. Doing so increases the intensity of your workout and you’ll get a better workout.
Here’s how it works on a few basic exercises:
When squatting, narrow your focus on tightening your quads, hamstrings and pressing firmly against the ground as you straighten. At the top, tighten your tush. Then release. Paying attention to your exercises makes them more effective.
In a plank? Focus on contracting and tightening your muscles starting from your feet to your arms. When you go from bottom to top, hold on tight. Breathe in and out as you focus on keeping your belly tight and your body in a straight line.
