But first, a recap.
I successfully completed my 5K training plan on Sunday, May 28th, with, you guessed it! A 5K. I hadn’t actually signed up for a race, so I dragged my Bottlerock-weary body out of bed and drove out to Novato to run along a very underutilized and unpopulated path.
I did my usual 2-minute warm-up walk, then off I went. Except for an unexpected walking break to find “the necessary,” I ran the full 5K. I finished with a 2-minute walk to cool down, and I was done.
While it was, admittedly, a slow 5K, the goal of running that 3.125 miles were set and met. The 6-week training plan gave me structure, and run by run, helped strengthen my endurance and my confidence. So, yeah, I’ll take that victory.
This week I started a 10K training plan. I run 3 days a week with an option for a 4th day later in the plan, which is great because I’ll have some more flexibility with my schedule in the summer. Again, it’s structured, it’s spelled out, and when I’m done, I’ll be back up to 6.25 miles. Which I’m really excited about.
Stay tuned because I may take you all on a run with me during the training. Virtually, of course.
And hey, in a few weeks, it will be Summer! I’m traveling a bit, and I know many of you will be, too, so I’m going to put together a July Challenge – something to keep us working towards our goals or to simply stay moving and focused. More details to follow!
Now go run!
Keli 🙂
