Turn Your Frustration into a Celebration

I often have conversations with people who are working hard towards their goals (diet, weight, exercise, etc.) but are frustrated because they are not where they want to be or where they think they should be.

Being frustrated in your results or progress can derail you from reaching your goals.  So let’s get rid of the shoulda’s (I should work out more), woulda’s (if I would just stop eating), and coulda’s (I would I could just run faster), and instead focus on your achievements.

If you are working towards your goal every day you should embrace that.  Feel good about that.  Celebrate THAT!

  • Celebrate the fact that you ate fruit instead of a cookie, or turned down seconds, opted to go to the gym instead of hitting the snooze button.
  • Celebrate that you worked out 5 days last week and have scheduled your workouts in for this week.
  • Celebrate that you went to bed instead of a snack (because you realized that you weren’t really hungry, just tired and bored).
  • Celebrate that you encouraged your co-worker to walk with you at lunch.

When you are able to celebrate and take pride in what you are doing to make yourself healthy and strong, you will soon begin to feel more confident.  And feeling more confident will keep you motivated and disciplined in your nutrition and exercise goals.  And that my friends is what fuels you to keep plugging away every day.

And if you are not happy about where you are right now and aren’t doing anything to improve it – well, now is the time to get moving.  Time marches on and you can buckle down and be an improved version of your beautiful self in a few months or you can be exactly where you are at this very moment.

It’s your choice.

Now go run!
