I am at the halfway point of training for the Big Sur International Marathon. This weekend we crank out our 16 miler so that will leave just a few long runs left; an 18, 21, another 18 miler the week after that and then the taper. Gulp!
While many people might think I’m a bit nutty, I love the long runs and the months of training leading to a marathon. Each long run is a mini milestone reached and it prepares me mentally and physically for the marathon itself. Even a bad run is good preparation for the marathon. It’s a lesson in what didn’t work; a chance for a do-over.
Now go run!
