This week kicked off my 9 week training plan for the 2021 Levi’s Presidio 10 Mile race on October 3.
My running, as I’ve shared took a nosedive in the past 18 months. So while I’m not starting over from scratch, I’m starting from a place that I haven’t been in a very, very, very long time. This week was a bit challenging because I had to push away frustration over my current speed and endurance.
Instead, I reminded myself that this is just a starting point and each run makes me stronger, faster and better. I put on some hype music, shook off any negative self-talk and just walked out the front door.
And make no mistake. After every run this week I put a star in my calendar. Because any accomplishment, no matter how small, deserves a celebration.
So if you’re in the same boat, I encourage you to ignore the voice that shames you for where you are now versus where you used to be. Take a big breath, crank up some music and get to work. We’ve got this!
Now go run!
